I have to admit the Michigan football thing is contagious. Moving here from San Francisco, at first I was confused. The traffic was bothersome, the college kids rowdier and things seem to stop when Michigan gets on the field. But slowly my dislike has turned into pride. I ask for scores, watch games (um…sometimes) and oh yeah… decorate cookies. Imagine a chilly fall evening decorating cookies amongst friends.
Our Michigan football cookie class is one of my favorites. I love the adorable helmets, the mini footballs and those deliciously attractive block M’s. Plus, you get to take home enough cookies to share on game day. I also find the royal icing techniques taught and practiced in the class can only make your cookies the envy of others. And come on, what’s better than that! You take away practical experience and tricks to make your cookies look professional bakery quality. Plus, you get my favorite brown sugar cookie recipe. I have been known to eat so much of the dough.
Come join us for the first class of the fall/winter 2013 line up. We would love to see you there.

Coming off a big win last week felt good. Actually it felt great. But we still have a lot more season ahead. And that means a lot more tailgates, parties and eating some delicious Sweet Heather Anne maize and blue treats. At our dessert counter during a Michigan home game, we will offer some of our favorite treats to celebrate maize and blue. But you can also pre-order a variety of sweets: decorated cookies, cupcakes, football helmet cakes, maize and blue macarons. Contact us for more information at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
And don’t forget: you can learn how to make Michigan M cookies at our November 7th cookie class!
The other day Claudia was talking about First Lady Dolly Madison. She was quite the fun one. She relished in her first lady duties and pioneered some of the traditions we have today. Dolly Madison believed the more the merrier and any occasion is better with food, lots of people and dancing. Undoubtedly she would have thought these American inspired cookies are a must for any party.
We invite you to come celebrate our independence with the ladies from Sweet Heather Anne. We will show you how to decorate some delicious brown sugar cookies with red, white and blue. What better to bring to your July 4th get-together than these spectacular cookies. Come have some fun and learn some new techniques. You will leave with the recipe and skills to re-create these cookies at home, as well as cookies to share.
All Sweet Heather Anne classes are hands-on, so come ready to work in comfortable clothes. Class fees include all materials. If you would like to bring your own tools that’s fine, but not necessary. We will not provide meals, so plan ahead if you think you’ll need a snack. Payment in full is required to reserve your spot. Bring a friend and receive 15% off their tuition.
$75.00 per person Contact us to reserve your spot or call 734- 913-2025
I love Easter because it means that spring is coming. After a long winter of bitter cold and lots of snow, the pastel colors and green buds add welcome cheer and a reminder of what is to come.
We are so exited about spring, and welcome you to celebrate with us Sweet Heather Anne style. Thursday March 28th we’ll be teaching our Easter Cookie Decorating class. Students will learn our signature cookie decorating techniques, leaving with two dozen decorated cookies and the skills and recipes for dozens more.
The Dessert Counter will be featuring gorgeous treats perfect for Easter baskets and celebrations. In case you miss the class we’ll be selling our decorative sugar cookies in dozens and 2-packs. Our Easter cake is 6-inches and serves 8-10 guests. It features lemon cake layered with lemon and raspberry curds and covered in a light pink vanilla Swiss buttercream. All topped with our adorable Easter banner.
Packaged for gifts in boxes of 5, our pistachio and blood orange French macarons are beautifully tied up with a ribbon.
Our chocolate cake pops with pastel drizzle, packaged in 2-packs, will brighten up even the dreariest of days.
Last, but certainly not least, carrot ginger is back! It will be making a limited time appearance at the Dessert Counter in the form of cake-in-a-jar. Come and get it before we sell out.
I know I’ve written previously about my dislike of winter. This year I’ve been making a more conscious effort to take a positive view of the biting cold and dark nights. For one, it is a great excuse for sleeping in and staying at home. I’ve been busily crossing items off my long to-do list, including remodeling my bathroom. Winter, I’ve decided, is a time to focus on what’s important.
Here at Sweet Heather Anne winter means less large special event cakes which frees up some of our time for fun classes. This winter we have some great classes scheduled. The classes offer anyone interested in beautiful and tasty desserts to come, learn new techniques, and take home some tips from the pros. This year’s class schedule covers a variety of cake and cookie decorating techniques, including all of the techniques pictured below.
For more information on how to learn any of these fabulous decorating techniques visit our web site or give us ring at 734.913.2025. Private classes also make great birthday and bachelorette parties, as well as showers. We are looking forward to seeing your smiling face in one of our classes.
As the weather cools and we all slow down to rest for the winter the Sweet Heather Anne calendar opens up a bit, which allows us time to offer classes. We love the opportunity to share our love of sweets and knowledge of decorating with you.
We kicked off this year’s classes with a Block M cookie decorating class for all of our Michigan fans. In addition to a couple different cookie decorating classes, this year’s class list also includes a buttercream class where you’ll learn to do all four of our simply stunning buttercream finishes, and some basic and advanced fondant technique classes. Tonight we are excited for our sold out Chocolate & Bubbly class where students will learn to make and dip cake truffles while sipping bubbly.
The classes are a great way to get a sneak peek behind the scenes at Sweet Heather Anne and to learn tricks of the trade which Heather and Claudia have picked up during their 8 plus years of combined experience. Classes make great gifts, and are also perfect for private events like showers and bachelorette parties.
Here’s a sneak peak into the Block M cookie class, and a big shout-out to Abby Rose Photo for the gorgeous images.
